lakelizardmusic & nirvana
So...back to Nirvana on the Beach, Negril, JA...from the previous pictures posted, you might get the wrong idea about this place. If you're looking for a super plush, high end, all-inclusive, somebody bring me a drink, might as well be in Florida luxury resort...this ain't it. If you want a taste of Jamaican beach life, interacting with the locals, most beautifulest spot on 7 mile beach, great staff, in the middle of everyting, walking distance to everyting...nowwww, you're at Nirvana on the Beach. The security guys will watch your stuff you leave on the beach, plus any of the staff will give you invaluable advice about whatever you need to know. As I'm sitting here at lakelizardmusic studios enjoying Jamaican blue mountain coffee, listening to the rain pouring down, the memories of Nirvana and Negril bring a big ol' smile to my face.
The last night of our visit, we were lucky enough to stay in the owners cottage...this is the view from the porch. If you're lucky enough to get this place for your entire stay...just do it, you'll thank me.

Rainbow Arch

Niah...king of all things Pattie...beef, chicken, lobster, vegetarian, fish...not to be confused with pattieguy on the beach...whole different thing, but you can't go wrong with either one.

I tend to get out and wander when I visit islands...some 7 years ago i stopped at this bar and had a couple of beers and visited with the owner...Josefs Cave Bar...Miss Mae was still there, and I enjoyed another RedStripe with her and listened to her stories.

Entrance to the Cave Bar...when the water's calm, you can swim up to the bar.
Now me and JimmyD had started out walking along the road just to see what we could see...and you can see a lot walking One Love Drive...one RedStripe led to another, to another, to visiting with old friends, to another...a few hours later, we had walked from Nirvana to Rick's Cafe in the cliffs...some 9 miles or so!

Along the way...

From Xtabi...

From Rockhouse bar...

Rockhouse bar and restaurant...

Three Dives...jerk chicken supreme...

...and finally to Ricks...and a couple of frozen pink drinks, rumpunch, for some hot wore out road weary white rastas!

JimmyD was here!

The divers @ Ricks is the thing...it's some 60-75 feet to the water.

Close enough for me...

Now before we had set out on a 'little' walk down the road, our day was planned around the donkey races being sponsored by the rotary club, which were just down from Nirvana. As a matter of fact, the whole night before the races we were serenaded by donkey singing as they were no doubt anticipating race day. Well, JimmyD said he wasn't walking back, wuss, so we grabbed a taxi
and cruised in luxury back to Nirvana...arriving just in time for the final donkey race of the day. Trust me, you ain't lived 'til you've watched a donkey race in Negril, nibbling on a lobster pattie from Niah, and drinking an ice cold RedStripe.

It's hard to get a picture of a racing donkey...'cause they're fast!

...yes, the water really is that color!

7 Mile Beach, Negril, Jamaica from Nirvana on the Beach
-consistently voted one of the top beaches in the world and now officially endorsed by lakelizardmusic.com.

Unfortunately, in spite of all the beauty Jamaica has to offer, JimmyD seems to be on the hunt for a cheap thrill...and I believe he's in the right place!
