Rhonda Vincent new cd, 'Taken' / new lakelizardlinks
Ok, we're starting with music today..I like to browse itunes to find old music that i used to have (before some sob stole all of my cd's a few years ago) or maybe stuff by artists that I like, but never got around to getting. The first is by a guy named Mason Ruffner...I had several of his cds years ago and pretty much had forgot about him till I ran across him on itunes. Now I wonder, how'd I forget this guy!? He's a Louisiana picker that's definitely got his own sound and his praises are sung by lots of other pickers. Just one of those guys that never got the attention he deserved in my lakelizardmusic opinion. Reach to the back of the bin and pick up some Mason Ruffner...
Also, I've been a Chris Duarte fan for years since I saw him down at the old 328 Performance Hall in Nashville years ago...I think it was a free Dancin' In the District concert that was moved inside because of rain. Yeah, he's got a little SRV and Hendrix in his sound, but he's got stuff that makes it his own. A funky rhythm....anyways, I picked up one of his cds that I didn't have, 'Vantage Point'...and yep, I still like this guys picking!
...and as you know, lakelizardmusic is all over the music genre. So for those of you who are uninfomed, let me introduce you to Rhonda Vincent. If you read this blog and/or visit lakelizardmusic.com (and WHY WOULDN'T YOU?), you already know that I'm a fan of Rhonda Vincent. I saw her live at the Ryman with Willie Nelson (there's a review somewhere in the past of this blog) and loved her show. It definitely supported the killer sounds and songs on her cds. Well, she's got a new cd 'Taken' that continues her past of great pickin', vocals, harmonies, and selection of songs including 'Back on My Mind' (is that a Ronnie Milsap song?). So what are you waiting for, buy it and buy it now...you'll thank me! Oh yeah, it's bluegrass, did I mention that? ...and if you think you don't like bluegrass, give it a try. ...and if you still don't like bluegrass, the picture on the cover is worth the price of the cd!

I've recently just added a couple so be sure to check out people and places that I like. CB Guitars is the home of Chris Bozung, who creates some very fine instruments and also works on very fine instruments. He did some adjustments for me on a bellezza nera and a j45 vine...very nice guy and quality work. Send some business his way if you're in the market, or at least check out his website and see what he's got to offer...you'll be amazed.
...the other new link is to Mt Juliet Beer Company...best assortment around...domestic, imports, draft growlers to go, all size kegs available, grow your own beer kits and equipment...and a decent selection of cigars. Get on their email list and you'll get weekly specials. Go green and buy a kegerator (I personally am a fan of Beverage-Air and MicroMatic)...do away with the unsightly bottles and cans trashing up the earth...not to mention less garbage to take out!
