Steve Miller Band/Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers/...and a new bailout plan for music lovers
I got a plan...I have been spending all of my money on Itunes lately, so I'm hoping I might just qualify for one of them bailout programs they keep talking about. Makes sense to me...I wasn't stupid enough to get a loan I couldn't pay for, and have been lucky enough not to have enough bad luck that I can't pay for what I already got, sooooo, this is the ultimate perfect bailout plan for me. Just sayin'....
So watcha spending your money on H?...that's what the people wanta know...
Well, a few years ago I had quite a few cds stolen from lakelizardstudios while me and the lizardkid were off on a research project in the Bahamas, so sometimes I like to buy some old music to replace that stuff. This week I got some Creedence, some Beach Boys, and some Robin Trower. I also found an old cd by Ernie Isley (High Wire) that I've been looking for, for years. (Yeah, he's one of those Isleys...can you say wahwah?)
Also, I got a cd by Bob Frank, a songwriter from the early '70s...there is a legendary album that he released in '72 called simply 'Bob Frank' that is STILL NOT AVAILABLE today(DAMN IT VANGUARD RECORDS, WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?!?RE-RELEASE IT!) Anyway, Bob faded away for some 30 years, and has reappeared in the last few years. Not the same stuff as the old cd, but 'Pledge of Allegiance' is pretty good still...just the man and his guitar making a statement.
New stuff...got Betty Lavettes 'Interpretations', Jack Johnsons 'To the Sea', Ruthie Foster 'The Truth According' ...all good music.
Now for the really got to have stuff...Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers kickin' ass once again on 'Mojo'....a little different but the same...I really don't see how you could not like it...I mean seriously? Best one in years in my opinion!
...and who else is this with a new cd?...The Steve Miller Band?...it's been 17 years since their last new music was released...I was a mere boy...wellllllll...'Bingo!' fills the void you've been missing...@ 66 years Steve Miller is rockin' the house...well, my house anyway. Honestly, I sat on the deck watching the river go by tonight, sippin' on a dos equis, smoking a cuba libre '90, and had my first listen to this cd cranked up to 11. It's hard to sit still as the SMB does some old songs that were his influences, done as only he can. He indeed is the Space Cowboy, the Gangster of Love, Maurice and whoever he wants to be purveying the pompitus of love throughout the land. Thanks Steve...we needed this!
UhOh... my turntable's just shuffled 'round to 'Susie Q' ... I could be up all night...good thing I'm off realWork tomorrow.
