Hank III , Dirk Quinn, Spin Doctors, Joe Louis Walker, Wayne "the train" Hancock

What I'm listening to this week:

-found a box set of Hank III at BestBuy.  I'd never listened to him, so I thought I'd give it a try...and I like this stuff.  Yeah, he's got that lonesome sound old Hank had and he's got some attitude that Hank Jr had, but he puts it together and makes his own way.  I highly recommend it...and Hank, if you read this, thanks for turning me on to Wayne "the Train" Hancock...which leads us to...

-Viper Melodies by Wayne "the Train" Hancock...apparently been around awhile and he's the real thing...you're probably not going to see him at the CMA awards with Snoop Dog.  If you like the Hank Sr/Lefty Frizzell type stuff, this is your man.

-QuinTet by Dirk Quinn...this out of the lakelizardmusic Savannah, Ga branch...Woodham saw this guy in a club in Savannah and was blown away.  So naturally, I had to check him out and we've got another winner.  Jazzy smooth like Robben Ford with touches of Jeff Beck and
a gumbo of your other favorite guitar players.

-Spin Doctors...their first two cds...the lizardkid grew up on theses guys and mine were stolen a few years ago, so I finally got around to replacing 'em.  Crank up Biscuit Head and just try to stand still.

-Joe Louis Walker...how is it that I've never heard of him?  This guy is a great bluesman...a guitar pickin' fool...not a bad song on this cd...check out "I'm Tide."

enjoy...support your local songwriters and musicians...oh yeah, and tip the bartenders and waitresses.
