Song ideas anybody?
I'm definitely not on the cutting edge of technology, but I've adapted somewhat to some of the newer stuff. I love the whole Ipod and digital music thing for its convenience...I'm probably listening to more music than I ever have. (Remember, BUY the music, don't steal it! Songwriters gotta eat too!) Along with satellite radio, you got things like Pandora radio and Lastfm and other online stations that will expose you to new music. I do miss going to the record stores like the old Above Ground Records in Auburn. I miss pawing through the stacks of album after album looking for the right one. Trying to find something that nobody else had. Now I stream music wirelessly from my laptop to my stereo...and digitally browse through the albums. It ain't the same, but it's pretty cool! I remember sitting on Dickinson Bay in Antigua, sippin' Wadadli with some good friends, watchin' the sunset, and listening to my ol' pal Ronnie Fruge on my Ipod playing through a kickass little rechargable stereo that I travel with.

I can still hear 'Lorraine Bridge' playing in the background

Where was I headed with this? Oh yeah...most of the pictures on this website are taken on my phone camera...they're not the best, but hopefully, they convey the message. It's just convenient 'cause I've always got my phone with me. The same for song ideas. My phone has a notepad in it that I use to write down phrases and words for songs...the stuff that I used to write on scraps of paper and could never keep up with. (I still have tons of these saved from the last 35 years or so.)
So tonight, I'm cleaning out my notepad much like I cleaned out my truck a while back. Here's what I've seen fit to write down for song ideas:
taking acid or chasing Jesus
all the way up
3 lesbians on a hill
looking at the moon through a mason jar
blue ready
purtyful
kinda funny kinda sad
she said, "i got some wild turkey in my car."
Yayhoo
right back in bullshit...ms cleta
black sheep white cape
the last time i saw roberta
dialup tv
mayzelle
sans accelerants
some ol' coop whore
shortbus for dating
If any of these spark an idea in you, please get inspired, write something, send it to me, and I'll see what we can work out of it. We could wind up with another "Seam Up the Back" that I cowrote with Woodham and lots of people seem to like.
