over the weekend

KittyPus looking a little concerned about the ratio of Cuervo to margarita mix.

DanPus looking a little concerned about the ratio of chicken legs to peoples. (Speakin' of chicken legs...)

UncleH not concerned about anything...enjoying his 1964 Harmony Archtop and looking good in his new Xmas present shirt from the Coz's...it was worth the wait.

I thought that uncleH had come down to Texas and took my 64 Harmony archtop back to TN and fitted it with some fancy red wing thingy to be used as a pick guard. BUT, upon checking my bedroom I found my 64 sitting there waiting to be picked up by me and stroked a time or two. I had to look inside the sound hole to verify that it was indeed a 64. And it was...

Hey, that fancy redwingthingy is a pickguard...and it was stock on these babies...unfortunately, most of them tended to break off, but this baby is cherry! ...I could use another one though...can't have too many guitars.

Mine has the screws to attach the pick guard. It looks like they have never been removed. I have seen the pick guards on e-bay. What do you think red like yours or tortoise shell? That red looks good. --DallasG--

I'm pretty sure mine is stock with the red...folks used to like to take pickguards off their guitars, I think back in the day it made them look cooler. I know I've got a 76 Univox LesPaul that I wish I could find the pickguard to (yes I was one of those idiots that took it off)...anyway, I don't know if I've seen the tortoise shell but that'd be a good look too. There are Harmony websites (folks collect these things) where you could probably get a look at both installed on the guitars. Keep 'em safe in Texas, DallasG...see you next time your in Lakelizardcountry!

    Well Darn!!!

I will have to retract most of what I have posted here in reference to my Harmony guitar. Your guitar is a 1964 Harmony archback Model H1213 I have(after exhausting research)determined that mine is a "1965" Harmony archback Model H1215 sans pickguard. Yes, someone had previously removed it. The difference in Model #'s is the paint job. I read that taking off the pickguard improved the sound significantly. Just setting the record straight since Tattoo seems to think that I take a little truth and tell a story. I wouldn't do that, would I? I will try to get a good picture and send it along for all to see.
