A Day Off
If you were lucky enough to have a day off yesterday, congratulations. Unfortunately, realwork doesn't recognize MLK or any other day as a holiday for the workers down in the mines. I did visit the Lorraine Motel in Memphis once...that's one of those memories that doesn't fade.
Today is inauguration day. Apparently millions of people are there to witness the event...it's all over tv for viewing. Luckily for me, TBS has "Cool Runnings" on. I'm not a very political person...so whoever is actually going to run things, please fix stuff. Feed the hungry, heal the sick, house the people...reward those who work hard, help those who really can't work at all...don't forget the old folks, we're all headed there...those who earn money should have a little in their own pocket, it just makes us all feel better. Please justly punish greedy corporate bastards who steal from everybody.
That said, I choose to watch "Cool Runnings" because I am partial to good music and sunny island scenes. It makes me feel good on a dreary wintry day off in middle Tn. I vaguely remember joining the Jamaican bobsled team a few years ago...or the Jamaican army...or something down there. I need to call Clive and see what that was all about.
Snow is swirling around outside...the river seems to have some ice floating around in the cove...but!...Mardi Gras is just around the corner. Laissez le BonTemps Roule!
